How to Use Online Clipboard
Online Clipboard is one of the simplest tools you will ever use. Whether you want to move a note from your phone to your laptop, share a file across two computers, or send an image without compressing it — this guide covers everything you need to know.
Getting Started
There is nothing to install, no account to create, and no app to download. Just open bestonlineclipboard.com on any device with a browser and internet connection. The tool works on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and all modern browsers — on phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops.
Step 1 — Choose What You Want to Send
On the Send tab, you will see three options at the top: Text, Image, and File. Click the one that matches what you want to transfer.
- Text — For any written content: notes, links, code snippets, passwords, addresses, or anything you can type or paste.
- Image — For photos, screenshots, diagrams, or any image file in PNG, JPG, GIF, or WebP format.
- File — For documents, PDFs, zip archives, or any other file up to 20 MB in size.
Step 2 — Add Your Content
Depending on what you selected:
- For Text: Type directly into the box, or use the Paste button to paste from your clipboard automatically.
- For Images: Drag and drop the image into the upload area, or click to browse and select from your device.
- For Files: Drag and drop the file, or click to browse. Make sure the file is under 20 MB.
Step 3 — Hit Send
Once your content is ready, click the large Send button. Within a second or two, you will see a 6-digit retrieval code appear on screen. This is your unique code to retrieve the content on any other device.
You can copy the code using the Copy Code button, or scan the QR code that appears below the digits — whichever is more convenient for you.
Step 4 — Retrieve on Another Device
On the device where you want to receive the content, open Online Clipboard and switch to the Retrieve tab. Enter the 6-digit code one digit at a time — the retrieval will start automatically as soon as all six digits are entered. If you prefer, you can also click the Retrieve button manually.
Your text, image, or file will appear on screen immediately. For text, you can copy it with one click. For images and files, you can download them directly.
Tips for Best Results
- Act quickly — Codes expire after 24 hours. If you need to retrieve something the next day, resend it fresh.
- Use QR code on mobile — If you are sending from a desktop to a phone, the QR code is the fastest way. Just scan it with your phone camera.
- File size limit — Files must be under 20 MB. For larger files, consider compressing them first or splitting them into parts.
- Paste shortcut — Use the Paste button on the text tab to auto-paste from your clipboard without typing.
- Multiple transfers — You can send multiple items one after another — each gets its own unique code.
Common Use Cases
- Copying a link from your phone browser to your laptop without emailing yourself
- Transferring a screenshot from your phone to a Windows PC for editing
- Sending a code snippet from your work computer to a personal device
- Moving a downloaded PDF from one browser session to another
- Sharing a note with someone sitting next to you without using WhatsApp or email
- Quickly moving a password from a password manager on one device to another
- Sending a small file between two computers on different networks
Privacy and Security
All content transferred through Online Clipboard is encrypted in transit. Your data is stored temporarily on our servers and automatically and permanently deleted after 24 hours. We do not require any personal information, and we do not track or store the content of what you share beyond the temporary storage period needed for retrieval.
Because codes are short 6-digit numbers, avoid using this tool for highly sensitive information such as banking passwords or confidential documents. For everyday transfers between your own devices, it is fast, convenient, and safe.
Troubleshooting
- Code says not found — The code has either expired (24 hours passed) or was entered incorrectly. Try sending the content again.
- File upload not working — Check that the file is under 20 MB and in a supported format.
- Paste button not working — Some browsers block auto-paste for privacy reasons. Simply paste manually using Ctrl+V or Cmd+V instead.
- QR code not scanning — Make sure your camera app has permission to scan QR codes, or use a dedicated QR scanner app.
Supported Devices and Browsers
Online Clipboard works on any device with a modern browser and internet access. This includes iPhones, Android phones, Windows PCs, Macs, Chromebooks, iPads, and Android tablets. It has been tested on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. No plugins or extensions are required.
